Richmond, Virginia, May 22, 2023 – From drive-ins to race tracks, Americans’ love affair with the automobile doesn’t stop when they take a vacation. A classic summer road trip checks the box for a fun-filled getaway again this year, and travel insurance and assistance provider Allianz Partners’ Top 10 Summer Rental Car Report reveals where they’re headed in 2023.
For the past three years, Orlando has claimed the top spot as families flock to the “theme park capital of the world” while kids are on summer break. At #8, Boston is the only other east coast destination featured, underscoring the appeal of the wild west and coastal towns for top-down summer adventures. Seattle has steadily climbed up the charts to secure the #2 spot this year with Denver (#3) and Las Vegas (#4) comfortably pacing in the next top positions. Newcomers to the 2023 grid include Anchorage (#5) and San Francisco (#10), unseating Honolulu and San Diego from last year. Other favored city scenes for this year include Los Angeles (#6), Portland (#7) and Kahului (#9).
“Americans are continuing to opt for rental cars when visiting primary cities across the U.S., allowing them to fully embrace all of their options for a memorable summer adventure beyond the city limits,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA. “When travelers slide into the driver’s seat on vacation, Allianz’s Rental Car Damage Protector buckles in the benefits, coverage and service for a comfortable ride while also saving money at the rental car counter.”
Allianz Partners offers its Rental Car Damage Protector through leading travel providers and directly to consumers as an alternative to the typically higher-priced collision damage insurance products offered at rental car counters. The product provides primary coverage without a deductible and can be purchased for domestic and most overseas rentals. Rental Car Damage Protector* plans may also include up to $1,000 in Trip Interruption coverage, which can be used to reimburse travelers for the unused portion of their pre-paid expenses or for extra unexpected transportation expenses when insured customers have to cut their trip short due to a reason covered by their policy. The product is also backed by Allianz’s award-winning customer service and 24/7 travel assistance.
